Attendance and timeliness

task #1-

Attendance was a problem for me in the beginning of school. I had a hard time keeping my baby from getting sick. I never imagined that i would miss so mauny days. Its hard when you have a baby thats always sick becuase it was her first year to the daycare and she was exposed to new germs. With my situation i was ready to except the fact that i didnt have a back up plan! you should always have someone close that can take care of your child uner any circumstance, which is usaully the person who help you make the baby but it doesnt always work like that. With nevaeh getting sick all the time i almost got kicked out of school because of my attendance. There are many ways to try to improve errors and problems you habve in your life. I had to get nevaeh some motrin to keep with me on a regular so she wouldnt get sick as much and i had to do work from the house that i could do. Then i had to stay after school to do work that i missed. I still got some zeros that i couldnt make up but i did get a passing grade.
Timeliness is another problem. I ahve to be more well prepared next year when school starts. Having everything organized was a big problem of mine, now that i am organized maybe i can do something abouta ttendance. Eather way i will work on all my problems and have a plan b!!!

My service learning is perfect for me. Its alittle slow paced but i think my pesonality is perfect for the job. One day i was serving lunch and a woman stopped me. She said when did you start working here? i told her i was just an intern and she said i need to persue this job as a career because my heart is so big and kkind. She said i made her day and that she would love to see me around more often, I told her i would love to be around more often because i love them all and i do. I love them and everyone else that works there. Mrs. anni lumpkin really helped me out there and i look forward to coming in the near future for a job!!!

workplace safety

task #1
There are many things that you have to be aware of at the council on the aging. Its always a risk of something happening when you are working with the elderly. You have to be extremely cautious. Things to watch out for when working with the elderly. When the elderly are sleeping make sure they have a pulse. When the elderly are eating make sure each one is breathing correctly and can feed themselves. When its lunch time take the food to the elderly that cant walk. When using the restroom make sure the elderly wash there hands. When an elderly coughs make sure they have a kleenex to wipe snot or slobber. Check the pampers every hour. When an elderly is walking make sure they have the support they need from you or there walker. When serving food make sure no sugar is served. When serving food wear gloves and hair net. When talking with a person with alzheimers be patient and if you cant understand them act like you can. There are many more things to watch out for with the elderly. there life is more fragile than ours and we have to be careful.

Caring for yourself helps you care better for your residents. You don't have to care until it hurts. Getting hurt is not part of the job. Our jobs can be safer. Unsafe jobs should be fixed before you find yourself out on your back.Nursing home work can be dangerous work. What you do for a living may lead to more back injuries than working in construction, in a warehouse, or even a coal mine.In 1993, nearly 17 out of every 100 nursing home workers lost work time due to an illness or injury on the job.Nursing homes are the fastest-growing part of the health-care industry. People are living longer. The Census Bureau says that 40 years from now there will be 70 million over age 65. Nine million of them will be over age 85. That's three times as many people over age 85 as we have today.Nursing assistants do nearly all of the lifting, transferring, and heavy work in a nursing home. High staff turnover is a big problem in nursing homes. Many nursing assistants quit before their first year is up. A big turnover in nursing home staff means lots of problems for everyone.

I have learnied so much from the Council on the Aging. I love the people I work with there. Everyone is so friendly and nice. I have always wanted to work somewhere with friendly people and smiling faces and until i came to the coucil on the aging i thought it was going to be impossible to find a place like that. I am so happy that i get this experience. It really changed my outlook on life. I love Chris and charles and even good ole carl. They all make me happy when i see them. Oh, and i cant forget about tony he is the best!! I love them all very much and look forward to working with people like this. I have a huge heart and i know it can be open to people in need.

Study skills

Task #1-

I think I have the average study skills. I was never big on studying so I think there is alot of room for improvement. My number one thing I need to improve is being on time. I can never get to school on time!!! I need new strategies so I can get to school at the right time. Now lets talk about when I do get to school, im still hungry because i didn't have time to eat!!! so that means i need more time in the morning to get ready and less time dragging around. I am not a morning person at all. That is another issue. Coming to school prepared and ready to work. The problem that causes you not to be prepared is not being organized. I believe everything ties down to that. Get organized. Next year will be a better year for me. I will focus on being prepared and on time!!!

#2 list

Taking notes in class
1)Listen to what your teacher says in class, not to students who are talking when they shouldn't be.
2)use flashcards to play memory. It's best with definitions
3)know how your teacher teaches. Use a digital recording device with a timecode, while you're taking notes
4)Focus yourself so that only the teacher and the study materials are visible to you
5)keep all materials organized and close

procrastination
1)count numbers in your head instead of using excuses of what will happen
2)worry anout what you can do after the task not what you can do while doing the task
3)keep an open mind
4)just do it
5)get it done

7 habits of successful PLC students

Task #1
Attending Classic City High School is one reason why i feel that i am a good student. If the rules and regulations weren't set the way they are a Classic City i wouldn't be a good student due to having personal issues outside of my school life. I believe the biggest thing i need to work on to be a successful student would be my attendance. There is one main reason why i have attendance problems and thats duet o family illness. On the other hand, i am a lazy person when it comes to waking up in the morning. One thing i can work on is waking up early and moving faster in the morning. I feel like I have potential to be a successful student but I also need to work on my study Habits outside of school. When I get home I am so exhausted I never have time to study. I need to make my schedule more flexible so I can study outside of school.
Overall i am a good student i just have a couple things to work on. I am dependable, hard working, trustworthy, and i have a great personality.

Task #2
In my opinion I can only think of one thing that the list missed. Having a good attitude while at school is very important and makes a huge difference in the attitudes around you. If you always come to school with a positive attitude, everyone around you is most likely going to have a positive attitude unless they have there own problems. Positive attitudes is the best way to go.

My experience at The Council on the Aging has been a true bleesing in my opinion. Having the experience of working with the elderly is enuogh to say thankyou but also having a relationship with different individuals knowing you are making them happy is another feeling. Leaving there with the security that i have made someones day makes me feel good inside as well. I look forward to persuing a job working with people because i love giving a helping hand.

Thank you letter to Mrs. Annie

Dear Mrs. Annie Lumpkin,

I wanted to thank you for giving me this wonderful opportunity to work with you and all the great people at The Council on The Aging. This spring 2009 I have experienced a whole new outlook in life. Working with all of you was an experience I will never forget.

I enjoyed working with Carl and Chris. Seeing them in there condition changed my outlook on people. I have enjoyed spending time with them and getting to know them individually. I often think of them while working or at school which means they had a huge affect on my outlook. I am so thankful to be able to know that I made them happy while I was there. In the future I hope to continue to work with people and the elderly.

Thank you to all the staff member for being such a great help to me while I was in this new environment and teaching me how to work with other people who are less fortunate than myself. Thank you for taking out time to help me learn more about what my future holds.

Sincerely,

Jessica Goss
